Heir Apparent

Annie’s life is all about collecting and creating quality heirlooms. Find out why.

Having grown up surrounded by heirlooms, it should come as no surprise that I have a passion for antiques today. English and French heirlooms and monogrammed linens spread about in a darn cool Mid-Century Modern home were all the inspiration I could ever hope for. I developed an appreciation from a young age for fine craftsmanship - skills that take a lifetime to develop should be highlighted, never hidden. While I was recovering from breast cancer treatment, I thought about what I could do to help myself heal and considered the necessity for modern jewelry that could be passed down for generations. The reverence and significance that Victorians once held for their jewels has been lost over the years and I wanted to bring it back.

Of course, anybody can go to a jewelry store and pick out something fabulous - but would it be special? There's an air of significance when a gift is personalized, whether it's meant to be passed down or just for you. A beautiful engraving, hand carved, with a single initial, a monogram, or even a little message, elevates even the simplest of jewelry.

This is something the Victorians knew quite well. The intent of creating a beautiful object, long lasting in its craftsmanship, with the idea that generations to come would adore it just the same as their ancestors before them. Obviously, that's true for some pieces, but not for most, which is a shame. But what if I could design a modern jewelry line, based off these concepts, and create new heirlooms for the contemporary woman who, like me, loves antiques and wants to be able to pass down cherished moments to family and friends? And that, dear reader, is exactly what I did.
