Nestled in a particularly quiet section of San Marino lies the Huntington Library and Gardens. Members for many years, the seclusion and grandeur of a bygone era inspires endlessly and has established itself as a fantstic spot for a day with the family. From the wilds of the Australian Outback to the grace of their spectacular roses, you are never far from an astounding view of Mother Nature's bounty. So naturally, we just had to take some photos there!
beauty around every corner
The most difficult part of our day was narrowing down just where exactly we wanted to get lost. Truly difficult work, but we did manage to survive the ordeal! As it was a rather toasty day out, even for the morning, we nestled in on a deeply lush, forested section of the grounds. Surely we could take some daring and dramatic pictures in the dappled light. Marble statues proved to be well behaved extras, although none cooperated with wearing our gems. In the background then they stayed.
a sweet surprise
One of the best things about the Huntington is that no matter how many times you've been before, there's always something new to discover. Case in point, a genuinely magnificent marble throne, elaborate in every detail, tucked away down a covered, hidden avenue made available only to those willing to adventure down unpaved paths. Think of the craftsmanship necessary to pull off such a feat! It is now a favorite spot, perfect for the more glamorous members of the Higgins familia. If only we could remember where it actually was...
flight of fancy
The beautiful cinematic light certainly didn't disappoint and we were all thrilled with the final images. It's easy to be creative when surrounded by so much inspiration! We hope to get lost in depths of the Huntington sometime again soon. With so many undiscovered avenues to travel down, the big question becomes "where to next?"
