The first of several gift guides coming to you straight from Annie’s heart.

Of course no gift guide from Anabel Higgins would be complete without monograms! A staple in the Higgins house, no room or ensemble is complete without at least one (or ten) curlicue initials. Invest in this timeless tradition and soon enough you'll have quality heirlooms to pass down to future generations. Perhaps you know someone just getting started who could benefit greatly with a few initialled goodies. Or maybe you know an avid collector who always has space for "one more."

quintessential style year-round

Linens are a superb place to begin, especially for those just starting out on their monogram collections. There is no such thing as too many personalized napkins, pillows, or hand towels. If you get them in various colors and fabrics, you're covered for every season of entertaining. Two of my absolute favorite stops when searching for newly monogrammed goods are Hibiscus Linens and The Monogrammed Home. The former is owned by the inspiring Mariana Barran Goodall who hosts fabulous embroidery retreats at her boutique hotel in San Miguel de Allende, besides selling year-round out of Houston. The later is founded by two cute sisters from the Pasadena area, Dana Banta and Catie Roheim. Those two can monogram just about anything, so give them a call for a more unique monogramming experience, beyond the classic linens, of course.

know your abc’s

There can't be a gift guide about monograms without mentioning the Anabel Higgins Heritage Collection! Designed for engravings of a single initial or full monogram, these pendants are the perfect gift your recipients will never forget. Befitting many tastes, it's unlikely you will disappoint the apple of your eye.

Another personalized fashionable goodie includes bags from Very Troubled Child. I mean, how cute is the cheetah?! When in doubt of what initials a recipient may desire, why not opt for a famous monogram instead? Perhaps an Hermès blanket or a Goyard tote will do. Who are we kidding? Of course they'll do!

make it yours

Maybe you have someone in mind who recently moved into a new home and needs to furnish their space. Details are the key to turning a house into a home, so why not start there? Pair some antique monogrammed silver napkin rings with that new embroidered set from Hibiscus Linens and you'll really be rocking and rolling! This takes a little more investigation than simply adding something to that digital cart, so your beneficiary will know it truly came from the heart. Or perhaps you know of a newly engaged couple? Then how about gifting them a bespoke invitation suite from Chaucer Road Paper. A thoughtful gift that the soon-to-be married couple will remember for forever.

Your options for gifting something personalized this year are truly boundless! If you're struggling to think of what style or placement to use, I highly recommend Linens for Every Room and Occasion by Jane Scott Hodges. You'll find yourself coming back to it time and time again for edification and inspiration.

We'll also be ending every gift guide with a themed organization you can donate to and the first is CHLA - Children's Hospital Los Angeles. I've been a long time donor and am quite passionate about the work that the doctors and nurses do here. Please consider making a donation this holiday season!
